  • They show a lack of empathy towards others. Thus, they are not able to recognize the emotions of others.
  • People with alexithymia feel the usual range of emotions, but are less aware of their own emotions and the emotions of others.
  • It prevents the identification, control and expression of emotions, both their own and those of others.
  • If your partner suffers from this condition, it is very likely that they are not aware of their condition.
  • Trauma, abuse, neglect, stress, among other factors, can contribute to the appearance of alexithymia.
