Computer Vision Syndrome (SVI) is a temporary condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer screen for long periods of time without interruption.

The American Optometric Association (AOA) defines Computer Vision Syndrome (SVI) or digital eye strain as a “group of eye-related problems resulting from prolonged use of computers and cell phones.”

The abuse of screens and digital devices can cause advancement of presbyopia, myopia and visual fatigue.

Presbyopia: advancement of the age of the appearance of tired eyesight.

Functional myopia: an increasing problem in the youngest.

CAUSES OF VISUAL FATIGUE ARE:

  • Inadequate lighting.
  • Reflections and glare.
  • Incorrect location of computer equipment and accessories.
  • Common causes of eye strain include the following: Looking at digital device screens. Read without pausing to rest your eyes. Driving long distances and doing other activities that you have to concentrate on for a long time.

SYMPTOMS:

  • As eyestrain,
  • Difficulty focusing,
  • Headaches
  • And double vision
  • Dry and irritated eyes.
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • They are directly related to poorly compensated accommodation problems, or to slight refractive errors in people who are not wearers of glasses or have poorly compensated or mounted glasses.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID COMPUTER VISUAL SYNDROME:

Follow the 20-20-20 rule.

Do eye exercises.

Adjust the monitor properly.

Don’t forget to blink.

Avoid dry eyes.

Use adequate lighting.

Take care of children’s vision.

The lighting in the room should be minimal.

Using an anti-reflective filter is a good option.

Check your posture from time to time to reduce pressure on your neck, shoulders, and wrists.

Keep your wrists straight when you type on the keyboard.

RECOMMENDED VITAMINS FOR VISION:

  • Vitamin A. As far as which vitamins are good for the eyes, vitamin A is an essential nutrient for the eyes.
  • Vitamin C. Our body constantly produces so-called free radicals.
  • Vitamin E.
  • Vitamin B.
  • Lutein.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Fish.
  • Walnuts.
