These are some curiosities of our body that have to do with breathing:
- We breathe or inhale through the nose because it is the longest path to the lungs, and therefore the air gets hot. This way we avoid catching cold.
- The right lung is larger than the left because it must leave room for the heart.
- Almost half of the water we drink is expelled through the breath.
- When eating and swallowing, we have a cartilage called epiglottis that covers the trachea to prevent food from entering the respiratory system.
- When we reach 70 years of age, we have breathed at least 600 million times.
