This ingenious invention was announced in 2017 by AliveCor, that an algorithm for its clock band with an integrated electrocardiogram sensor had received FDA approval. KardiaBand, when used with an Apple Watch smart watch, monitors the heart rate ratio to a person’s physical activity, learned by capturing data for several days.

When an atypical number is captured, which shows a heart rate considerably outside of what would be expected for the activity performed, the person receives an alert that records their electrocardiogram. A PDF file of the reading can then be sent through the individual’s smartphone. This represents the first artificial intelligence algorithm approved by the FDA to help users obtain data for a medical diagnosis.
