Opioids, such as morphine, are dosed for the symptomatic relief of uncomplicated acute diarrhea in adults.

Codeine, phosphate is a drug subject to international care by the Single Convention on Narcotics (1961).

Tablets, codeine phosphate, 30 mg.

Indications: short-term symptomatic relief of acute diarrhea in adults; pain.

Contraindications: children; clinical situations in which the inhibition of peristalsis must be avoided; abdominal distension; acute diarrheal diseases such as ulcerative colitis or colitis due to antibiotics; respiratory depression.

Posology:

Symptomatic relief of acute diarrhea, orally, ADULT 30 mg 3-4 times a day. It should not be administered to children.
