Recently, the Food and Drug Administration approved Guardian Connect, a continuous glucose monitor, which is capable of sending alerts to patients on high or low glucose levels 60 minutes before they occur.
This allows the patient to know how they are throughout the day, only that it has the advantage of connecting to the cell phone through an application.
The sensor transmits the glucose readings every 5 minutes via Bluetooth to the cell phone (iPhone).
Use an algorithm to predict high or low glucose one hour in advance.
It reduces the possibilities of hypoglycaemia and increases the time in which glucose remains in range.
The company expects the monitor to be available in May and June 2018.
