Advance in pharmacology, for diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

The new drug “Aducanumab” produced with the aim of modifying the course of the disease.

Those affected with Alzheimer’s disease will be able to count on two drugs “Donanemab” for early stages of the disease and “Gantenerumab” and “Lecanemab” for advanced stages.

The progress made on Alzheimer’s, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for June 2021, was to approve aducanumab, for the treatment of some cases of Alzheimer’s disease.

Technology has contributed along with other types of medical assistance in different phases: Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease: test to detect signs of possible alterations in memory, language, attention or executive functions. Treatment: performing cognitive stimulation exercises.

However, there is still no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but two types of medications have been created that can help people live with the symptoms of the disease.

The road to a cure will not be easy, and even if these theories lead to drug development, the drugs may fail for other reasons. Alzheimer’s is a very long-term chronic disease, probably present for 20 to 30 years before the first symptoms become apparent.

Some treatments are currently used for Alzheimer’s: Galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil, which are cholinesterase inhibitors, are prescribed for mild to moderate symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. These medications can help reduce or control some cognitive and behavioral symptoms.

According to studies, a diet rich in vitamins B12, C, D and E becomes the best shield against Alzheimer’s. However, supplements should not be consumed without medical recommendation, since both lack and excess of vitamins are harmful.

Alzheimer’s patients live an average of 3 to 11 years after diagnosis, but some survive 20 years or more. The degree of impairment at the time of diagnosis can affect life expectancy.

Early diagnosis and treatment for the disease is important, do not hesitate to consult a doctor or visit a hospital center for examinations.
