Experts warn that sedentary lifestyle in middle age from 50 years significantly increases the risk of developing frailty in the elderly, a geriatric syndrome that affects approximately 10% of people over 65 years, characterized by poor physical activity , weight loss, fatigue and slow running.

This syndrome can invalidate the affected person and their presence indicates that the person is more likely to have a disability and other health problems, and a higher risk of being hospitalized or dying prematurely.

To diagnose frailty, two tests are used: the Cardiovascular in which are measured, for example, the speed of walking and the balance of the elderly. Other aspects: activity, energy balance, strength, slowness, nutrition, loss of energy, central nervous system and vascular system and that allows to identify small alterations in the state of the person as time passes.

To prevent frailty, specialists advise to lead an active life by practicing physical exercise regularly and following a balanced diet, within the framework of a social environment that favors a healthy aging and avoids the dependence of the elderly.
