October 19

Every year, on the initiative of the World Health Organization on October 19, the international day of the fight against breast cancer is celebrated as a reminder of the commitment of the whole society in the fight against breast cancer and with the objective of to create awareness and promote more and more women to access timely and effective controls, diagnoses and treatments.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in both developed and developing countries. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of breast cancer is increasing in the developing world due to longer life expectancy, increased urbanization and the adoption of Western ways of life.

The WHO has indicated that prevention strategies can not eliminate the majority of cases of breast cancer that occur in low and middle income countries, where the diagnosis of the problem is made in very advanced stages.

Early detection in order to improve the prognosis and survival of breast cancer cases remains the cornerstone of the fight against this cancer.
